These rules and guidelines are for the sake of helping everyone enjoy their time here in Folderol. If you have any questions about them, please contact a DM in game or ask a question on our forum.

Rules

  1. Do not interfere with other peoples fun, whether this is by Out Of Character (OOC) chat, Tells or the way your character is behaving. Annoying someone might get you banned. Annoying a lot of people will probably get you banned. Annoying one player character repeatedly when that player is not into it will get you banned.
  2. Player v Player (PvP) and Pick Pocket (PP) is only allowed between consenting players. Carrying out these actions against non-consenting players is likely to get you banned. Remember player set traps can count as PvP if triggered by another player.[See note below regarding giving consent and the use of traps]
  3. Keep your roleplay PG13, or keep it private. Note that DMs can hear things said in “party chat”, so party chat isn’t private.

Guidelines

The following are guidelines and interpretation of whether they have been infringed too far is down to the individual DM. DMs are empowered to make these decisions and take the appropriate action.

  1. Gypsy Camp is neutral ground, which means No PvP, No Pick Pocketing, No Offensive Spells, No AOE spells or anything else that can be considered hostile to the inhabitants and visitors to the camp.
  2. Folderol now has developing guilds & factions. Before you join one of these factions please make sure you have read and understood the Faction Rules.
  3. When participating in DM events please ensure you follow the Player Code of Conduct.
  4. Experience ‘farming’ by either over exploiting and area, sitting on a spawn point or having a lower level character partied up to gain XP without doing anything is very ‘un-Folderolian’ and frowned upon. Intensive farming of the livestock will have undesirable results on the livestock present. [See note below regarding the Farm]
  5. Item transfer between Players own characters is allowable, but should be restricted to RP reasons rather than collecting / buying gear with a high level character to pass on to a low level one, even via a third party.
  6. Re-logging to try and cheat death or bringing on another character to resurrect a party member then re-logging as the original character is another ‘un-Folderolian’ act that is frowned upon.
  7. To contact a DM, use “DM Chat.” If a DM is online, he or she will see it. To use DM chat, type “/dm whatever” as if you were talking, and DM’s will see the text “whatever” from you. Only DMs can see DM Chat, and they can see it anywhere in the world. If you have a disagreement with another player then please contact a DM.
  8. Consenting to PvP & PP. This can be done in two ways:
    1. by giving direct permission in game via Tell or OOC chat.
    2. by joining a faction and so the Faction Rules apply.
  9. Traps are a useful tool in a rogues arsenal against hostile creatures, but they have the potential to cause damage to other player’s characters. So before setting traps please remember the following:
    1. Traps may be set in hostile (areas where hostile creatures are encountered) without obtaining PvP consent from any players who may get injured. Note that if an area includes hostile and none hostile sections, then they can only be set in the hostile section.
    2. Traps that do not cause damage, but cause hindrance to other characters may be set anywhere except neutral ground as defined under the Player Rules & Guidelines above, without PvP consent.
    3. For all other areas PvP consent must be obtained from any player whose character is likely to be damaged by the trap.
  10. The Farm & farming. This is the one area of Folderol you can farm to your hearts content. DMs will not intervene in this area regarding farming, although they may add additional creatures for you to slaughter. There are two ways in to the Farm and one of these is by DM transport, however there is only one way out and and that is by fighting your way out. DMs will not help you here.
